Why Rent to Own Works When Finance Doesn't
A traditional instalment sale runs through a bank's credit scorecard, and a judgment, default or debt-review flag stops it there. Rent to own is structured differently: it is a rental agreement over 54 months with ownership passing to you in month 55, so the decision rests on whether the monthly amount genuinely fits your income. That is why buyers who have been declined three or four times by the banks are regularly approved here — nothing about their circumstances changed, only the way the deal is assessed.

Rent to Own: Common Questions
How does rent to own work for a car in South Africa?
You pay a deposit and a fixed monthly rental over a 54-month term. The rental covers the vehicle, comprehensive insurance, a tracking device, a 24-month mechanical warranty and a 54-month minor service plan. In month 55 ownership transfers to you. Because it is a rental agreement rather than a traditional instalment sale, the assessment is built around affordability rather than credit score alone.
Can I rent to own a car if I am blacklisted or under debt review?
Yes. Any type of application is welcome — blacklisted, ITC listed, under debt review, joint applications and business applications. The gate is our affordability test, not your bureau record.
What is the affordability test?
We allocate a maximum of 60% of your disposable income toward the monthly rental. Disposable income is what remains after your existing debit orders and living expenses come off your net salary. If the rental fits inside that 60%, the deal works.
What deposit do I need for rent to own?
A minimum deposit is always required. We fund between 90% and 100% of the vehicle's trade value — the gap between that funded amount and the selling price becomes your deposit. A trade-in is welcome and can be used toward it.
What is included in the monthly rental?
The vehicle, comprehensive insurance, a tracking device, a 24-month mechanical warranty and a 54-month minor services plan. It is a single all-inclusive monthly figure rather than a finance instalment plus separate insurance and maintenance bills.
Can I settle early or trade in?
Early settlements are welcome, but not within the first 6 months, and we prefer that at least 24 months of the term have run. Trade-ins are welcome at the start of a deal.
What do I need to qualify?
You must pass the affordability test, pay the minimum deposit and hold a valid driver's licence. You then get your own login on our online platform to upload validations and download your contract.
